Msgr. Marvin Borger
Pastor
Monsignor Marv Borger became pastor of Saint Joan of Arc Parish on January 8, 2021. Ordained in 1991, he has served the Diocese of Toledo in a variety of parish and diocesan roles. Originally from St. Henry in Mercer County, he holds degrees from Saint Meinrad Seminary in Indiana, the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, and Ohio Northern University, where he earned a degree in electrical engineering. Before entering the seminary in 1985, he worked as an engineer for Marathon Oil Company in Findlay. Monsignor Borger is also a veteran of the United States Navy, serving on active duty as a chaplain from 2002 to 2005.
He has a deep personal devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and enjoys reading, especially history and theology. He has led several pilgrimages to Europe and the Holy Land, including a memorable journey through France to visit sites connected with Saint Joan of Arc. He also enjoys watching baseball and football, cheering for the Browns, Indians, Reds, and Buckeyes.
His pastoral assignments include: Pastor of Saint Joan of Arc Parish (2021 to present), Vicar for Clergy for the Diocese of Toledo (2015 to 2021), Pastor of Saint Rose Parish in Perrysburg (2007 to 2015), Chancellor of the Diocese of Toledo (2006 to 2007), US Navy Chaplain on active duty (2002 to 2005), Associate Pastor at Saint Rose Parish (1999 to 2002), Canon Law studies at the Catholic University of America (1997 to 1999), and Associate Pastor at Saint Wendelin Parish in Fostoria (1991 to 1997).
