Adult Choir

Meets Tuesday, 7:45 - 9:30 p.m., September through May
The Adult Choir assists at Sunday liturgies (normally at the 9:30 a.m. Mass) and special liturgies. They also participate in special choral and musical events. Many functions are designed to just have fun singing.

It could be said that the St. Joan of Arc choir is one of the most active participants in “extracurricular activities” in the diocese. The choir has participated in several diocesan celebrations at Rosary Cathedral, as well as the televised Catholic Mass.

Each year, a special Holy Week production called “His Last Days” is performed at St. Joan of Arc, and on occasion, at other churches. This program has become a tradition here.

On several occasions the choir has combined with other area choirs for special presentations. The Diocesan Choral Festival is another event in which members become involved.

In November 1996, the choir combined with two other area churches to participate in a 10 day pilgrimage to Italy. Highlights of the tour included singing for a liturgy at the Vatican, singing for the Papal audience, and performing a concert at St. Ignatius in Rome.

In June of 1999 the choir traveled throughout Austria and also into the Czech Republic and Germany. Highlights included a performance at the Salzburg Choral Festival & singing for the Sunday liturgy at Salzburg Cathedral. New members are always welcome. If you are interested please contact music director Jean McLaughlin at the parish office at 419-866-6181.

Adult Handbell Choir

Meets Tuesday, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., September through May
The St. Joan of Arc Handbell Choir was the first Catholic Group of English Handbell Ringers in the Diocese of Toledo. The purpose of the group is to enhance special liturgies as well as to add variety to normal Sunday Masses. It also affords individuals an opportunity to become involved in another form of music ministry.

This group has also been involved in many extracurricular activities including Cathedral liturgies, televised Catholic Mass, area handbell festivals, choral festivals, etc.

The Handbell Choir also accompanied the Adult Choir on the November 1996 pilgrimage to Italy. Highlights of the trip included ringing at the Papal audience and a concert at St. Ignatius in Rome. The Handbell Choir was also a part of the musical tour in Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic, and participated in all activities with the choir.

We are always looking for qualified individuals to join the program, either as regular members, or as substitutes. For additional information, please contact music director Jean McLaughlin at 419-866-6181.
