This group of dedicated ministers adds much to the Liturgy. Lectors are granted the honor of proclaiming the Word of God. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion assist the pastor in distributing Communion not only during the Liturgy, but also to nursing home residents and shut-ins. For more information contact Terri Pastura at 419-866-6181. An important ministry of service at our weekend and daily Masses is the presence of Altar Servers. All boys and girls of the parish, beginning in the fifth grade, are eligible for this ministry. Their duties include preparing the worship space, serving the Mass and cleaning and returning all liturgical items after the liturgy. Four 8th grade servers are chosen each year as Server Captains. The Ushers perform a very essential function at all of our liturgies. They greet parishioners, direct traffic, assist parishioners in distress, and coordinate collections. Individuals are assigned to teams that are responsible for Masses and they usually rotate on a monthly basis. For more information contact Terri Pastura at 419-866-6181. Nursery services are provided in the Brides Room at the 9:30 Mass for children who are 1, 2 or 3 years old. Parents are expected to volunteer as needed throughout the year. Weekly The Sacristy is cleaned and dusted weekly and all items in the Sacristy are checked. The volunteers also clean all of the brass candle sticks used for Masses and weddings, clean the altar and surrounding areas of both the chapel and church. The work is done weekly during office hours. Volunteers rotate on a monthly basis. For more information contact Terri Pastura at 419-866-6181. Eucharistic Ministers take Holy Communion each Sunday to Catholic residents at Elizabeth Scott Memorial Care Center and Elizabeth House Assisted Living, Levels I & II; Swan Pointe; Ridgewood Manor; Country Brook Assisted Living; and Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek. At Swan Creek, Holy Communion is distributed on Wednesday afternoons, and the rosary is recited. Volunteers also assist parishioners by driving them to Sunday Mass from Swan Creek, Country Brook and Elizabeth House. Volunteers assist with residents for the monthly Mass at Elizabeth Scott Community and at our Tuesday morning Mass here with Wolf Creek residents. Volunteers also assist at Masses at Christmas and Easter at all our Nursing Care Centers. For more information contact Gene Lesak at 419-861-0161. Pastoral visits are made to parishioners who are hospitalized. Prayers are offered while visiting. Contact Gene Lesak at 419-861-0161 for more information. Visits with Holy Communion are routinely made to parishioners unable to get to Sunday Mass. This can be short term due to recovery from surgery, or illness, or long term as a result of infirmity. For more information contact Gene Lesak at 419-861-0161. The Sunshine Committee provides food for funeral luncheons held at St. Joan of Arc. We can accommodate about 60 luncheon guests. The committee furnishes dishes such as salads, vegetables, and desserts. Members are asked to either provide a dish, help serve and clean up after the luncheon, or call members when services are needed.
